When the app is first downloaded, users will see a pop-up message that appears, asking if they would like to "allow" notifications. Users will need to click "allow" to receive push notifications.

If a user didn't originally click "allow," they will need to turn on their notifications in the school app by finding their user profile, going into their account settings, and switching on the notifications toggle.

iPhone: Go into their settings, search for their school app, click on the notifications tab, and toggle on "Allow notifications."

Android: Open the device's settings, tap notifications, and click on the app notifications tab. Here, find their school app and turn on their notifications.

If none of this works and you need a last resort, have the user delete the app, turn off their phone, and then reinstall the app. This isn't ideal, but most times, it will do the trick.

Email notifications can be turned on by a parent or guardian logging in on the web browser via https://id.edurooms.com/users/sign_in In the web version, they will be able to click on their account profile and switch on the toggle for email notifications. They will only receive email notifications hourly. If they read messages or log into their browser before the hourly update, they will not receive the hourly email. They also have the option to receive a daily digest of messages that pertain to their student(s).
